Emergency DIY FIT toilet kit

Emergency DIY FIT travel toilet kit

I. BACKGROUND:
In to my 50s, my body would casually advise me that, "Look for a toilet in the next few hours."  In my 60s and 70s, my body would give me a dictatorial command, "You must find the toilet ASAP: 60 seconds, 59 seconds, 58 seconds, 57 seconds, etc."  if I did not respond, immediately, the consequences were nasty. It had happened before.

Anecdote: In my late 20s I made several US and Canadian road trips in my old Suburban SUV often parking at night in a used car lot, or in front of my insurance company's local office WITHOUT a toilet. I learned to take a 'dump' (#2) on a newspaper, fold it up carefully, put it in a sealable sandwich Baggie along with used toilet paper, and dispose of it the next morning. Easy solution!

Anecdote: My small-ship Antarctic cruise research strongly advised that if I wished to leave the mothership on the inflatable dinghy to go on shore and 'walk amongst the seals & penguins', I was NOT ALLOWED to go to the  bathroom (#2) on land.     Yet, 'Walking amongst the seals & penguins', IMO would be a prime highlight of my Antarctic cruise. So, ... I needed a solution because I WAS going to 'walk amongst the seals & penguins.' 😁

In response, I created a very simple, cheap, DIY Emergency FIT travel toilet kit.

II. CONTENTS:

    A. Newpaper pages: enough pages to be strong enough to safely contain 'dump'

    B. Toilet paper: what ever you might normaly need

    C. Sandwich sized Baggie: to hold 'folded toilet newspaper & contents'

    D. Larger Baggie: to safely hold everything:   for 1. > 3. above however you want to
arrange it for disposal once back on the cruise ship.

III. Osprey Daypack STORAGE:
This Emergency DIY FIT travel toilet kit is so thin & small, it will fit almost anywhere including your pant's back pocket for immediate use. ....and I mean immediate use.

Anecdote: Long bus ride and NO toilet: Transferring by bus from the Laos/Vietnam border into Da Nang in central Vietnam, between our last stop on Danang's outskirts and our final stop in Central Danang .... most of the passengers had left the bus when Mother Nature issued her, mandatory command & the irrevocable count-down began,  "You must find a toilet ASAP: 60 seconds, 59 seconds, 58 seconds, 57 seconds, etc." In a panic I rushed to the bus's empty back bench, pulled my Emergency DIY FIT travel toilet kit. out of its slim Osprey Day pack's staorage compartment and USED IT.

I had no choice. 20>30 minutes later, the bus dumped us at a major down town Danang intersection whewre I jumped on a motorcycle  who whizzed us thru the congested city streets to my hostel. Whew, boy was that close.
